Holidays in Cyprus – a destination enriched in history and culture

Cyprus is a destination with gorgeous views, historical monuments and azure seas. The Rock of Aphrodite amongst other religious places including the Hala Sultan Tekke mosque have proven to be popular with travellers. The flora-rich landscape is simply stunning and favoured by the nature lovers.

Beautiful natural landscapes

A little way inland from the coast and bustling resorts, you will encounter a different Cyprus with timeless villages and rugged scenery. The Troodos mountains are breath taking and the Byzantine monasteries and churches give you a glimpse into the history of Cyprus. The local farmers work hard to produce great tasting fruit and vegetables as well as grapes for wine which you will get a chance to taste on your Cyprus holidays.

Rock of Aphrodite

You will notice an odd-looking rock formation in the sea which is said to be the location where Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, was born and washed up on the shore. She was then laden with precious jewellery including a gold crown and gold and copper earrings. Aphrodite’s Rock is a favourite spot for romantic couples on their Cyprus holidays, especially at sunset.

Hala Sultan Tekke

This prestigious mosque is set in a grove of palm trees near the Larnaka Salt Lake and is famous for its Hala Sultan tomb - the aunt of Prophet Mohammed - who died in an Arab raid on Cyprus in AD 648. The mosque itself dates back to the early 19th century and its impressive domes and minarets can be seen from afar.
