Sharm el Sheikh Holidays, Egypt

Overview

Sharm el-Sheikh Holidays

Established fairly recently in 1967 by Israel, Sham el-Sheikh has become the biggest tourist hotspot due to its luxury hotels, historical sites and excellent diving conditions.

Sharm el-Sheikh consists of three main areas: the old market town of Sharm el-Maya, various bays, and El Hadaba which is an area full of holiday villas, apartments and hotels. Na’ama Bay is the most famous bay of them all consisting of luxury 5 star resorts and vibrant nightlife.

The golden sandy beaches seem to go on for miles and are similar to the ones found in the Mediterranean. Sun worshippers or snorkelling enthusiasts will be in their element here on their Sharm el-Sheikh holiday.

Holidays in Sharm el-Sheikh – a destination full of unforgettable sights

Sharm el-Sheikh is packed full of history, charm and fantastic weather. Deep sea diving, camel rides and visiting St. Catherine’s monastery are popular activities on many Sharm el-Sheikh holidays.

Diving

Sharm el-Sheikh’s Red Sea resort is well known for scuba diving thanks to its crystal clear waters, stunning corals and rare tropical fish. It is ideal for people who are new to diving and more experienced divers due to the shallow waters and excellent visibility. Diving courses are available to help you discover the beauty of the underwater world. This is a must for your Sharm el-Sheikh holidays.

Camel ride to Bedouin

Why not try something different and go on a two hour camel ride to Bedouin. You will be taken through the desert behind the El Aat Mountains. Towards the end of your ride there will be a stop at the highest point in the valley to take in the view and drink tea with herbs.

St. Catherine’s Monastery

This spectacular monastery of St. Catherine is at the foot of the Gebel Musa (Mount Sinai made famous through the story of Moses) and is 1,570m above sea level. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its fascinating history can be traced right back to the Bible. The monastery is home to various important historical documents including codices and manuscripts. The surrounding countryside and expansive grounds are also well worth a visit.
