Ocho Rios Holidays, Jamaica
Overview
Ocho Rios Holidays
Ocho Ríos means Eight Rivers in Spanish and this former fishing village is now a lovely
resort on the north coast of Jamaica. It was actually the location for the first James Bond
film, Dr. No and is well known for its superb beaches, beautiful waterfalls and lush
countryside.
Holidays in Ocho Rios – enjoy the island style of Jamaica
Over the last 20 years, Ocho Rios has developed tremendously and has been transformed from a small town to a thriving tourist resort, with a wide range of top quality hotels, restaurants, shopping centres and a wonderful marina.
Dolphin Cove
Dolphin Cove is a natural cove surrounded by lush tropical rain forest and is one of the best attractions in Ocho Rios, where you can swim alongside a family of bottle nose dolphins. It is located next to the Dunn's River Falls and as well as the dolphins there is also a shark pool and a nature hike, where you can see a variety of other exotic creatures including turtles, parrots and iguanas.
Dunn's River Falls
Dunn’s River Falls is truly spectacular and is one of the most gorgeous waterfalls in the world. It is over 300 metres high and is interspersed with lagoons. Climbing the waterfall is an exhilarating experience and once at the top you can relax on the terraces and marvel at the scenic views of the falls and the horizon in the distance. The falls were also used as a location in the Tom Cruise film Cocktail.
Green Grotto Caves
The caves are known by several names such as the Runaway Bay Caves, Discovery Bay Caves, Dry Harbour Caves, and Dairy Caves and are among Jamaica's most famous natural attractions. The Green Grotto is over 1,500 metres long and 12 metres deep. The caves are located between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay and the focal point is the large labyrinthine limestone cave with its abundance of stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the subterranean Grotto Lake. The caves were also the setting for the James Bond film, Live and Let Die.
On an Ocho Rios holiday you can experience the incredible natural beauty of Jamaica.
