Holidays in Playacar – experience the wonderful Mayan Riviera
The Mayan Riviera is famed for its glorious white sandy beaches, deep blue sea and spectacular ancient ruins, and Playacar is an excellent place to experience all of this. In Playacar you can shop, eat, drink and lie back and relax on the beach but the beauty of the region is that there are plenty of fascinating places to visit.
Xel-Ha
Xel-Ha means "where the water is born" and the natural beauty of the park is quite remarkable, with its creeks, lagoons, and ancient caves fed by underground rivers flowing to Mexico's stunning Caribbean Sea. Xel-Ha is considered the world's most attractive natural aquarium and it boasts excellent aquatic attractions, such as Hammock Island, Grotto El Dorado and the Xel-Ha River Float.
Xcaret
Xcaret Park is an environmental Mayan-style theme park, which is named after the nearby archaeological site Xcaret. The main attractions of the park are the river that runs through the Mayan village, a coral reef aquarium and excellent snorkelling and scuba diving spots. There is a replica of a Mayan village with real artisans at work, performances of pre-Hispanic dances and other demonstrations of traditional Mayan and Mexican culture.
Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza, which means "at the mouth of the well of the Itza" is a spectacular archaeological site built by the Mayan civilization. The site is easily accessible from Playacar and is one of the biggest and best preserved Post Classical sites in the Riviera Maya. The central theme of Chichen Itza is the cult of the feathered serpent and the scared cenote, great pyramid and numerous statues and carvings are truly incredible.
On a Playacar holiday you can enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean coast of Mexico, as well as some of the most amazing natural and historical wonders in the world today.
