Overview
Boasting over 12 kilometres of gently shelving sand beach, Puerto del Carmen is the busiest resort on the island, where shops, bars and restaurants line 3km of coastal road. Pleasant afternoons and evenings can be spent in the old town and port areas. The charming resort of Matagorda is at the quieter end of Puerto del Carmen and offers a small sandy beach and a tasteful gathering of shops, bars and restaurants (Matagorda is close to the airport so some aircraft noise will be heard).
