Bodrum is the site of the Mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, as well as the famous two thousand year old Bodrum Amphitheatre, which overlooks the resort and offers the picture postcard views of the harbour and castle. The castle was built in the 15th century by the Knights of Rhodes during the crusades and is another example of the wonderful historic sites in Bodrum. The Underwater Archeology Museum is a most fascinating attraction displaying artefacts recovered from the sea and provides an interesting insight into the world of underwater archaeologists.
