Turkey's climate is as vast as the country itself. The Mediterranean coastal regions have very hot and dry summers and wet, mild winters. Inland eastern areas such as Istanbul have hot dry summers but colder winters with snow in some areas. In the peak summer months temperatures can peak at 40 degrees centigrade. Winter temperatures can fall to below freezing in some areas.
