The picturesque fishing port of Puerto de Mogan is probably the prettiest resort on the south west of the island; it's dedicated to tourism but has kept a strong hold on its Spanish traditions. The purpose-built resort sits next to the original village and is bustling and busy despite it being a traffic-free community.

Colourful Mediterranean houses are prettily lined with gardens and window boxes giving way to a maze of narrow alleys and bridges that the promenades. "Little Venice" and its net of pretty water channels is full of restaurants and jazz bars that serve superb food and have wonderfully romantic atmospheres.

The beach is south facing: it's great for sunbathing and swimming as its semi-circular shape keeps it well protected from the Atlantic wind and currents.

No package holiday in Gran Canaria should be complete without a trip in the yellow submarine - with the best sea views you'll dive and watch the fish swim by. As the famous foursome said - everyone will have all they need, a sky of blue and a sea of green living in the yellow submarine in the bay of Puerto de Mogan.
