Palaiokastritsa Holidays

GENERAL

Overview

Paleokastritsa may be a bit of a mouthful to pronounce but don't let that put you off a holiday here. Affectionately known as Paleo (and much easier to say that way), this resort in the north of Corfu would be the perfect place for a summer holiday in Greece with a difference.
Located at the north west of the island, Paleokastritsa holidays offer heaps of natural beauty and relaxation. A perfect spot for families to enjoy some quality time together, Paleo is home to four beaches that overlook the sapphire waters, while also providing a good supply of shops, nightlife spots and excellent tavernas that will be more than happy to dish up authentic meals that will indulge your tastebuds.
If you're hankering for some peace and quiet, away from the hubbub of inner city life, Paleo is the place for you. With a holiday here, you will soon realise why even the native islanders spend their free time at this resort.

Places to Go

Corfu Town
If you'd like a change of pace as part of your Paleokastritsa holiday, a visit to the island's capital, Corfu Town, is a must. Whether you're a lover of architecture and history or you're happy to peruse the boutiques and shops that line the town's cobbled streets, Corfu Town has something to appeal to all its visitors.
Watch the sun set over this beautiful resort while dining at one of the excellent quality seafood tavernas or enjoy a boat ride from the harbour, sipping champagne in the moonlight - bliss!
The Monastery of Theotokos
Founded in the 13th Century, Theotokos Monastery is a grand example of Greek monastic architecture, and while much of the building has been modernised over the past couple of centuries, the museum on site that pays homage to the Byzantine times is worth a browse.
Views from the monastery are incredible, with 360 degree panoramic views of the area, including a chance to catch sight of Kolovri Island that, if legend is correct, is the petrified ship of Odysseus.
Aqualand
Fancy some all-out fun and excitement during your Paleo break? Corfu's awesome waterpark, Aqualand, is a mere 20 minute drive south of Paleokastritsa and home to a huge range of exhilarating slides and chutes, with plenty to do for kids of all ages - plus the young at heart too!

Things to Do

Dive or Snorkel
Diving and snorkelling are incredibly popular both in and around Paleokastritsa, largely because of the superb water conditions. The clarity is second to none, allowing beginner and experienced divers the chance to head beneath the waters. Kolovri Island is a particularly recommended dive site, with the translucent and deep waters surrounding the island being home to a plethora of fish, coral and sea sponges.
Test your Watersport Skills
If you're not fond of diving, perhaps one of the other watersports on offer would be better? The resort's beaches are numerous and each offer a range of watersports opportunities - from riding the popular banana boats to jet skiing and windsurfing. If taking to the water sounds like something you'd like to do, you won't be disappointed.
Hike in the Hills
Alternatively, keep your feet firmly on dry land and head for the hills that surround Paleokastritsa. If you'd like to immerse yourself in the island's history then head for the 13th century castle, Angelokastro, which can be found amongst the rugged hills. If you do decide to take a hike to the castle, bear in mind that it's closed on Mondays.
