A must-see in Menorca
is the postcard-perfect Cala'n Bosch resort town and beach. A holiday hotspot in the middle of the Balearic Islands
, Cala'n Bosch is known for its whitewashed villas, fine white sand beaches and an overload of family friendly activities for kids of all ages.
A trip to this island paradise is all about laid-back leisure with poolside siestas practically mandatory. The town is clean and modern, with an abundance of shops and cafes, while the beaches boast shallow, clear waters perfect for babies and toddlers wanting to go for a splash. Get set for a relaxing stay in Cala'n Bosch, but be warned, you may never want to leave!
Cala'n Bosch is a fairly new town, so there aren't a lot of ancient ruins or sites to see. The town's marina, however, is beautifully picturesque, with easy promenades and amazing views of the Balearic Sea. Enjoy a traditional tapas dinner, complete with sangria, before strolling around the nighttime markets to pick up souvenirs and handmade goods.
Just 10km away is the old capital of Menorca, Ciutadella. Spend the day wandering around the ancient town, filled with centuries of fascinating history. Founded in the 4th century, the city has had a troubled past with nations from around the world staking their claim to the island. You'll be able to see remnants of Turkish, Moorish and Roman influences across the architecture and buildings.
Take the kids to Aquarock
There are plenty of beaches along the coast of Cala'n Bosch, but if you're a little tired of the usual sand and sea, take the kids to Aquarock, the island's largest aquatic park. It's a huge amusement park with the thrilling Kamikaze ride, plus a wave pool and children's area. There's also a go-kart track next door and sunbeds so you can relax while they're at it.
Celebrate the Fiesta De Sant Joan
Time your trip to be in Menorca around June 24, for the annual festival held in the Ciutadella. Join both the locals and tourists in the street as they take part in dances, carnivals, shows and more. Drink 'pomade', the traditional gin and lemon fiesta drink and watch the 'Jaleo', the famous horse parade through the town. It's a real taste of the unique Menorcan culture!
Marinda Garden Club
No matter where you choose to go in Cala'n Bosch, you're guaranteed a good time. Families will love the Marinda Garden Club with its village-style apartments and huge pool play area. Situated right next to Aquarock, you also receive free access to the waterpark with your booking. The main beach is just 700m away, while restaurants, cafes and bars are a mere 300m walk.
Hotel Valentin Star
If you're on a romantic trip, the Hotel Valentin Star is a popular adults-only resort overlooking the marina. You're 100m away from a secluded white-sand beach, while the bigger beach of Son Xoriguer is just down the road. The hotel also has on-site bars, daily activities and evening entertainment.
