Last year TripAdvisor announced the top attractions from around the world, voted for by travellers. These attractions can be anything from museums and landmarks to amusement parks and zoos, so from the varied top 25 I’ve picked my favourite 10.

Europa Park, Germany

#1 – Top 25 Amusement Parks — Europe

I love a good theme park, and there’s no better in Europe than Europa-Park in Rust, Germany. Themed around different European Countries, there’s a whole host of roller coasters and water rides that all the family will love.

Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

Basilica of the Sagrada Familia

#9 – Top 25 Landmarks — Europe

The unfinished cathedral in Barcelona has been in construction since 1882 and still has another 9-13 years left until it’s fully completed. The amount of work that has gone into sculpting each separate element is staggering; no corner has been cut to create one of Europe’s biggest and most beautiful cathedrals.

Bioparc Valencia

#5 – Top 25 Zoos — Europe

Near the centre of the Mediterranean city of Valencia, this zoo is home to some of the world’s most amazing animals. Featuring lemurs, lions, giraffes, meerkats, gorillas and hippos, you can get up close and personal to many magnificent animals which you wouldn’t normally be able to see without flying half way around the world.

Parthenon, Athens

The Acropolis Museum

#4 – Top 25 Museums — Europe

The brand new Acropolis Museum perfectly encompasses the history and importance of the temple in the centre of Athens. Housing many important Greek statues and artefacts, the museum tells the story of the Acropolis and the Athenian culture.

PortAventura Park

#2 – Top 25 Amusement Parks — Europe

Mainland Spain’s top waterpark and resort, PortAventura Park is home to some of Europe’s biggest and best rides. The park currently holds the crown for the highest and fastest roller coaster in Europe. You should definitely try the Hurakan Condor which features a 100 metre free fall; it’ll certainly get your adrenaline pumping.

St Peter's Basilica, Vatican City

St. Peter’s Basilica

#2 – Top 25 Landmarks — Europe

Whether you’re staying in Rome for a week or a day, visiting St. Peter’s Basilica is a must. Vatican City; situated in the heart of the Italian capital, is the smallest country in Europe and is a beautiful place to visit whether you’re religious or not.

Vasa Museum

#7 – Top 25 Museums — Europe

This amazing museum is home to probably the most unique historical piece in the world. The Vasa was a Swedish wooden hull warship that sank on its inaugural voyage just outside of Stockholm in 1628. It was left at the bottom of the sea until 1961 when it was salvaged and placed in the Vasa Museum. To this day, it’s the only 17th Century ship that’s been recovered and put on display.

Loro Parque

#1 – Top 25 Zoos — Europe

Situated on the popular Canary Island of Tenerife, Loro Parque is an amazing day out for all of the family. It’s rated as the best attraction on the island, as well as the top zoo in the whole of Europe; if that’s not a reason to visit I don’t know what is.

Grand-Place, Brussels

#16 – Top 25 Landmarks — Europe

Beautiful day or night, the Grand-Place in Brussels is an amazing place to sit and watch the world go by. With several restaurants located around the square, it’s the perfect place to ejoy a cold drink and traditional Belgian waffle whilst you soak up the atmosphere.
