Es Cana is a tiny resort town in the northeast of Ibiza in theBalearic-Islands . Just a few minutes north of Santa Eulalia, Es Cana offers more than just the usual soft sand and crystal clear waters ¿ come here instead for pristine surf swells, cool beach bars and the original ¿Hippy Market¿. Es Cana is also well connected to explore further afield. Ibiza Town is only a quick taxi ride away for those looking to party at the big name clubs, while the island of Formentera is easily accessible by ferry. The resort is also famous for its spectacular sunrises - well worth the early morning wakeup call! While it may be small in size, Es Cana certainly still packs a punch in terms of the famous Ibiza sun and fun!
Hippy Market One of the main attractions of Es Cana is the weekly ¿Hippy Market¿, held every Wednesday at Punta Arabi. Aptly named due to the number of hippies who settled in Ibiza during the 1960s, the market has since become somewhat of an island institution, selling handmade clothes, shoes and leather goods. It¿s particularly famous for its beautiful silver jewellery and trinkets. The markets are so unusual that many tourists from other islands and resorts make the trek to check out the local wares! Cala Nova Beach If you¿re a surfer, Cala Nova Beach is just what you¿ve been looking for. This 250m stretch of sand is largely untouched meaning you can catch waves to your heart¿s content. While there can often be strong rips, Cala Nova is also great for families as the sand stretches far and wide, backed by nature parks and gardens. Harbour Es Cana Harbour is where you¿ll find ferries heading off to nearby hotspots such as Ibiza Town, Formentera, and lots of other seaside resorts. Day trips aside, the quaint harbour is also full of cool restaurants and beach bars offering fresh seafood and cold drinks. Sea bass with a salted crust is a locally specialty and well worth a try!
Hop onboard the Tourist Train Explore the rest of the island with a three-hour tour onboard a vintage tourist train. You¿ll see the historical village of San Carlos and a 17th century farmhouse where you can sample the local produce. You¿ll also learn about the unique island history, making it an educational and enjoyable way to see the countryside. Sea the sun rise As Es Cana is on the north east coast of the island, you¿ll be able to see some of the world¿s most beautiful sunrises. Get up early - around 7am - and head out to the beach to watch the sun rise out of the sea in the calm of the early morning. A spiritual experience, it¿s a great way to start the day!
Hotel Caribe Es Cana is a very family-friendly town with lots available for kids of all ages. Far enough away from the clubbing capitals of Playa d¿en Bossa and San Antonio , you¿ll be able to relax at Hotel Caribe thanks to its hotel-run kids club and daily entertainment activities. There¿s also tennis, football, outdoor swimming pools and a buffet restaurant. Punta Arabi Meanwhile, if you¿ve come to Ibiza to party, Punta Arabi will have you pumped and ready for a night out. With cocktail classes and live DJs playing every night, you can enjoy a few drinks before catching a bus or taxi into town. Head to the Hippy Market during the week or wind down by the pool or nearby beach. Es Cana might not have the hype that the rest of Ibiza does, but that¿s all part of its charm.
